We need to be careful what we believe and teach. Yes, Biblically speaking, love is a command. John 13:34 says, A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. However, it doesn't mean it's automatic. I can acknowledge that's it's a command all day but it doesn't mean my obedience is a given. I still have to decide to love. I still have the option of either loving or not loving. God will not force us to love Him, or others. He commands it, yes. He wants us to, yes. But He wants us to want to! He chooses to love us, not because we are lovable but because He is so loving. Tips for choosing to love others:
